Save-A-Pet’s 9th annual Furry Friends 5K and 6-Legged 1-Mile Walk will be hosted in Libertyville in the last week of June.
Funds for Save-A-Pet, a well-known no-kill animal rescue, are regularly raised through the annual charity outing. Save-A-Pet, a non-profit based in Illinois and one of the largest no-kill cat and dog rescue organizations, has been in operation for more than 50 years, and awareness and funds for the cause will be supported through this year’s walk. Participants during the event are expected to be entertained by live music, and rock and roll enthusiasts are the focus of the activity, as this year’s theme is “Rock and Rescue.”
Banners, Posters, and T shirts are typically utilized for charity runs such as this, and Print shops in the city may be called upon to keep up with the resulting demand. Participants looking to receive their race day themed T shirts on time must register by May 31.
The event will be held on June 27, 2026, at Old School Forest Preserve, located at 28285 St. Mary Road. The event will last from 8 am to 12 pm, with the 5K timed race scheduled to begin at 8 am and the 6 legged walk planned to start at 9:30 am.
