Libertyville is set to host runners and walkers for the annual Race to Zero this September.
The family-friendly event will bring the community members together for a morning of fitness while supporting a meaningful cause. The event will take place at Independence Grove Forest Preserve. It will feature a timed 5K run/walk alongside a one-mile family walk.
Participants in the 5K will receive an event T-shirt. However, those who raise more than $100 will earn a special Race Bag. The event plans to combine recreation with fundraising, creating an opportunity for people to support the cause while enjoying the scenic surroundings of the forest preserve.
Organizers of charity races like this may also work with local Print shops to produce Banners, Signs, and other event materials that help guide participants and welcome visitors.
Registration for the 5K is $35 per person. However, families can join the one-mile walk for $35 per family. Packet pickup and registration will begin before the races. This gives participants time to prepare before the morning activities start.
The Race to Zero will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Independence Grove Forest Preserve, 16400 Buckley Road, Libertyville.
Registration and packet pickup begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9:00 a.m. and the one-mile family walk at 9:15 a.m. More information is available on the event's official website.
