Ground breaks on new veterinary service

A husband and wife team of vets is opening an urgent care clinic for pets in Libertyville.

The goal of Baruch Caballero and Jamie-Lyn Derse is to meet the demand for same-day services related to urgent care for injured or sick cats and dogs. The establishment will be called VetMedic and it will provide care for issues such as limping, a scratched eye, allergic reactions, vomiting, and bee stings, among other types of injuries.

The foundations for the new clinic have just been poured and construction is underway. It will be located at 175 Peterson Road between Splash Hand Car Wash and Ace Hardware. The expected opening date is the summer of 2023. Printing services can be used to advertise an opening date like this.

Derse is the founder of a home-visit veterinary service known as Veterinary Housecall Care LLC. She also works as a critical care and emergency vet at emergency and specialty hospitals. She and her husband moved to Libertyville in 2009 and have plenty of experience when it comes to providing emergency veterinary care in the Chicago region.

VetMedic plans to be able to work with daytime practitioners. The clinic will be open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm every day. Any cases deemed to be critical and requiring overnight care or extensive work will be referred to emergency hospitals nearby. The couple intends to work closely with other vets in the area rather than compete with them.
