Open Communities is joining forces with Ten Thousand Villages in Evanston to hosts a festive evening fundraiser this month
In pursuit of its dream of inclusive suburbs, Open Communities will hold an evening filled with hors d’oeuvres, wine, and dessert to raise funds for inclusion and diversity in Chicago’s northern suburbs, not just through the holidays but every day. This second annual fundraising event takes place at the Ten Thousand Villages 719 Main Street location.
Open Communities was started in 1972 and is the region’s primary social and economic justice and fair and affordable housing organization. In total, it provides 17 suburban communities north of Chicago with free housing services, as well as advocacy.
Ten Thousand Villages is a storefront run by volunteers that seeks to assist low-income, fair-trade artisans of the world to better their financial situations.
Each of the organizations can benefit from engaging a printing company to produce Brochures to explain the mission of their group, as well as publicize their events. On December 9, both organizations come together in a win-win situation from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, which costs $20 to attend.
While enjoying the refreshments, guests can browse the Ten Thousand Villages shop. For every dollar made during the event, 15¢ will benefit Open Communities, in addition to providing much needed income for the artisans who created them.
