Evanston celebrates Small Business Saturday

Evanston takes a lot of pride in its small business sector, and an event will give these establishments an opportunity to put their best foot forward.

This holiday season, the community of businesses that call Evanston's Downtown district home will be celebrating Small Business Saturday. This movement encourages the public to explore local alternatives to big box style stores, and the city has some special fun in the works for the day.

This year, the public can get their holiday shopping started early, and to thank them for their patronage, the Holiday Shopping Passport program will be back. This incentive provides the public with a $20.00 Evanston e-gift card for each $100.00 they spend. The passports can be picked up at any of the participating establishments.

Along with the shopping passports, the staff at McGaw YMCA will provide free childcare between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Free trolley rides will ferry members of the public between Downtown Evanston, Dempster Street and Main Street so they can access as many bargains as possible. Event organizers often choose to have maps prepared that indicate the location of venues participating in an activity, and these can be ordered from area brochure printing companies.

Evanston will be showing some love to its small businesses on November 29th. The Downtown Evanston website provides more details about timings, venues where Shopping Passports can be picked up and more.
