There are many ways to build a family, and adopted kids are the target audience for an upcoming Evanston workshop.
The Cradle will be running a session of W.I.S.E UP, which has been developed by the Center for Adoption Support and Education. It is designed to be an empowering experience, and registration is limited to 15 children along with a parent or guardian.
The workshop will give the kids that participate a safe space to share their feelings about being adopted with others who are going through a similar experience. They will be given tools they can draw on when it comes to answering questions they may find tough such as where are their “real” parents, and they will learn that it's up to them to decide how and when to talk about their adoption. It is the only organization in the state trained to provide this program. Babysitting will not be available, and siblings may only participate if they meet the criteria that’s been set.
Kids learn in a variety of ways and Stationery printers can prepare visual custom designed educational materials for an activity. They can also supply a variety of Promotional Products to distribute to the attendees.
The Cradle is located at 2049 Ridge Avenue, and it will be hosting this event on September 20th. It will start at 9:30 pm.
