Evanston invited to attend orchid exposition

Orchids are often thought of as exotic plants that are difficult to grow, but an Evanston area event is set to reframe that notion.

Whether they are interested in wild orchids such as Lady’s Slippers, have a grocery store Phalaenopsis, or collect rare species, the Illinois Orchid Society’s Spring Show and Sale will have plenty to offer both budding and established orchidophiles.

It will take place over two days, and the Linnaeus & Pullman Rooms at Burnstein Hall will be the venue for the weekend.

Those who attend the function will be treated to an opportunity to view at least 34 displays that will showcase orchids, and everything from hybrids to area exotics will be in the mix. Local growers will be vying for a ribbon in the competition, and the judging will be performed by representatives of the American Orchid Society.

Along with the displays and competition, the attendees will be invited to shop from several dealer tables, and related products will be on offer as well. There will be special activities just for the kids, and a repotting service for orchids that have outgrown their current homes will be available. A prize draw containing Corporate Gifts, among other items, will wrap up the festivities.

This opportunity to discover the joy of orchids will be held on March 9 and 20, with the event being held at the Chicago Botanic Garden, Illinois.
