Evanston event to explore fair housing

Fair housing is an issue that could impact just about anyone, and it will be the topic of discussion for an Evanston evening event.

The Robert Crown Branch of the Evanston Public Library will serve as the venue for a session that will explore fair housing rights and why they matter. It is geared at both owners and renters, and it may also be of interest to landlords.

The activity will introduce the federal level Fair Housing Act, and the goal is for everyone to walk away with a better understanding of their rights and responsibilities. It will also cover state and local level protections that have been put into place, and it will make it easier for them to spot and address violations when they see them. Accommodations for tenants and income protection are just a sample of what will be on the agenda, and everyone can ask questions.

Information sessions provide the public with an opportunity to learn about their rights and also how to become good civic citizens. A poster printing company will be pleased to lend a hand in spreading the word about an upcoming event to those who may be interested.

This introduction to the topic of fair housing and how its principles are being applied in Evanston is on the way for June 13. It will kick off at 6:30 pm.
