Miracle dog movie starts shooting in Edwardsville
Filming has started on a story about a dog, rescued from horrendous conditions, which had been living in a derelict property with more than 60 other hounds.
The film, Marshall the Miracle Dog, tells the story based on the titular character who, badly injured with bite marks, a broken leg, and a deformed face, was found by the Humane Society of Missouri.
The tale has been updated slightly to include the story of a young boy, Finn, who finds Marshall.
Bullied himself, Finn and Marshall become firm friends after the young boy rescues the dog from the ranch where it is being held. A host of trials and tribulations await the pair - including a situation in which Marshall nearly gets killed.
The updated storyline will be used to educate people about bullying in all its forms, with the film shown in schools across the country. Already, Marshall and his new owner Cyndi Willenbrock go into schools to tackle bullying.
Poster printing for the film will help raise awareness, whilst the celebrity cast line-up is also hoped to lift the profile of the movie.
A blog will follow the shooting and production of the movie in Edwardsville, which is set to star Lauren Holly from NCIS, Gossip Girl's Matthew Settle and That ’70s Show's Shannon Elizabeth. The film is also expected to see an appearance from Bill Chott of Saturday Night Live fame.
