Families in Edwardsville with an interest in raising chickens can start building their knowledge next month, as a local homesteader has announced an informative workshop in town.
The shED Talk: Raising Backyard Chickens discussion has opened registration to individuals in the community and Edwardsville area, providing them with the information and tips to help them enjoy the perks of a healthy coop. The experience is designed to be engaging, with Katie Bell, the speaker, answering questions about the basics.
Bell, who works with the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign Extension Office, will explain what goes into daily care for the chickens, local considerations, feeding tips, and housing options. It’s an opportunity for practical guidance to hit the ground running when raising chickens at home.
