Running race challenges athletes in Edwardsville

A distance race is being organized in Edwardsville for next month, putting local athletes and their stamina to the test.

The Los Lobos Challenge, which is being presented by the Wyco Wolfpack, is opening registration to runners in Edwardsville and the surrounding area who want to showcase their endurance and athletic abilities in a fun and memorable competition. The race will feature two separate options, with one lasting three hours and the other running for six hours. Runners need to be prepared for a competitive race that will push their boundaries.

Runners will run the same three-mile course for the duration of the race, regardless of the duration they select when registering. The course will use the Bridle Loop in Wyco Lake Park, with the terrain featuring an open field and small hills for easier running. Banner printing is a classic way to welcome participants to the finish line while promoting the race and its sponsors.

Finishers who cover 50 kilometers will receive a special award for their efforts. The course has over 700 feet of elevation gain, meaning each runner will cover nearly 8,000 feet of elevation.

The race will be held at Shelter 14 at Wyandotte County Lake in Edwardsville. It begins on Saturday, February 7 at 8:00 AM for the six-hour run. Registration is open online, and walk-in registration costs $100.
