In-depth conversation on Darwin & African Americans in Edwardsville
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has announced that they will be hosting a conversation and exploration of African American heritage and the closeness of the African American community to birds. This conversation, hosted by Dr. J. Drew Lanham, will be held as part of Darwin Day celebrations.
Dr. Lanham is the author of “The Home Place: Memoirs of a Colored Man’s Love Affairs with Nature.” As such, he is deeply knowledgeable and passionate about birds and the related field. His unique perspective in this area has given him insight into the area of ornithology, allowing him the opportunity to share his expertise with interested individuals.
As well as this, Dr. Lanham is also intimately familiar with the works and life of Charles Darwin, whose legendary work has influenced much of the way we understand humanity and evolution. As such, this event is being held on Darwin Day, which is meant to honor Charles Darwin’s contributions to science and human nature.
The event itself will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 7:30 pm. Parking at the event is free.
