Edwardsville Childrens Museum to host New Years Event
A New Years at Noon party will be celebrated at the Edwardsville Children’s Museum on New Year’s Eve.
Children and their caregivers will be able to participate in multiple crafts, parts of which may have been printed at local print shops. There will also be a balloon drop at noon so that children can ring in the new year without having to stay up way past their usual bedtimes.
The Edwardsville Children’s Museum was opened in June 2003. The museum itself was the brainchild of one Ms. Carla Johnson, who was inspired to open her own children’s museum after visiting one in the Metro East area with her family. The museum provides multiple exhibits and programs that motivate learning in, stimulate curiosity in and serve the interests and needs of children.
Exhibits inside the museum include various places such as a Market, Animal Hospital, Pizza Cafe, Post Office, and Custard Cart where children can experiment with various adult activities and careers. Children can also get creative with machines and parts at the Makerspace and various art mediums in the art studio. Programs at the museum include preschool playgroups, summer camps, scout activities, and much more.
The event will begin at 9:30 am and is free to attend. The children’s museum itself is located at 722 Holyoake RD. Children are encouraged to wear their “fanciest party clothes”.
