MadKap Productions in Deerfield will host the National Theatre's production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.
Simon Stephens modified British author Mark Haddon's book for the stage, and Marianne Elliot directs the play for the National Theatre. In 2013, it won seven Olivier Awards, and now it is on tour across the country.
The play centers around an intelligent but awkward teenager named Christopher. The plot thickens when he is accused of killing a neighbor's dog.
Joshua Jenkins will play the part of Christopher. This is Jenkins' first role with the National Theatre, and he has previously worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Scotland's National Theatre.
New Tricks actor Chris Ashby will be playing another version of Christopher, and Geraldine Alexander will play Christopher’s support worker Siobhan. Alexander has appeared on British television shows such as Shetland, Father Brown, and Taggart. She has also performed at the Globe Theatre. Other cast members include Dirty Money’s Edward Crace, Emmanuelle Cole, and Gina Isaac from the television show Derek.
The production will be at MadKap Production’s resident playhouse, the Skokie Theatre, from November 6 to 22. The address is 7924 Lincoln Avenue in Skokie.
