Champaign gardeners will soon have access to a secret weapon thanks to a pop-up event organized by a local organization.
Members of the Champaign-Urbana Herb Society will be hosting its annual Plant and Herb Sale in early May, and as the plants on offer will have a local provenance, they have the best chance of performing well in area gardens. On offer at Lincoln Square Mall, it is the organization’s only fundraising event for the year.
This annual market has become an area tradition, and will be manned by members of the society who will be happy to share their knowledge and expertise. Dozens of species will be in the mix, including options for the herb garden, native plantings, cutting gardens, and more. Many are low-maintenance perennials, and options for sun, part shade, and shady spots will all be on offer.
