Working in the kitchen can be a fun way for parents or caregivers to introduce youngsters to the STEM subjects, and a Champaign class will invite these little chefs into the kitchen for hands-on activity.
The Tiny Chefs: Pumpkin Muffins will see its attendees pouring, mixing, measuring, and baking, and it is designed to be enjoyed by parents/caregivers and their little ones together. It is geared for those between three and five years old, and tickets start at $25.00 each.
The facilitator of the sessions will teach basic food preparation skills such as counting, measuring, and following a recipe. Listening and paying attention to directions will also be emphasized, and the muffins will be peanut free. The goal is for the kids to become comfortable working in the kitchen and also for them to learn about nutrition and making healthy food choices. The class will run for one hour, and the resource person will be Michelle Hovart.
Youngsters often enjoy cooking and baking, not even realizing that while they have fun, they are also learning about math, science, and other subjects. Recipe cards, aprons, chef’s hats, and other items for a cookery class can be prepared by Print shops, and both adults’ and kids’ sizes will be on offer.
The Champaign Park District has scheduled this autumn activity for Saturday, October 3 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Springer Cultural Center. Parents are reminded that advance registration is mandatory. Get a Free Quote for Print
