What's Happening in Champaign, IL…

One of the biggest names in rock ‘n roll, who was once a member of a now-legendary band that changed music history, is on his way to Champaign.

Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band will be appearing soon at Champaign’s State Farm Center. The band, which has been touring for more than 30 years, is unusual in that the members rotate, depending on their schedules and Starr's discretion. In addition, it truly is an “all star” band.

Among the names that have been part of the group at one time or another are Steve Lukather of the band Toto; Nils Lofgren of the E Street Band; Edgar Winter; and Pete Townshend of The Who. Among the guests who have shared their talents at one performance are Starr's old band mate, Paul McCartney.

Starr is, of course, best known for his work as the drummer for the Beatles. The quartet (Starr, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and John Lennon), who were together from 1962 until 1970, caused the craze known as “Beatlemania,” and sold over 800 million albums, making them the largest-selling band in music history.

The band on the 2019 tour comprises Starr, Lukather, Gregg Rolie from Santana, Colin Hay of Men at Work, Hamish Stuart, drummer Gregg Bissonette, and instrumentalist Warren Ham.

Major concerts like this are often promoted through poster printing. Starr and his all-stars appear at 7.00 pm on August 20.
