Hands-on truck event comes to Champaign

A select group of big rigs will be rolling into Centennial Park this spring, and Champaign kids will be able to explore them up close and in person.

Area families are invited to fill their baskets with their favorite picnic fare and head to the park for Touch a Truck Day, which will be held in May. It is geared towards little ones from ages two to five.

The trucks parked at the venue for the occasion will include tow trucks as well as first responder vehicles such as police and fire trucks. The participants can watch the lights, honk the horns, and hear the sirens, and they will even be able to see what they look like on the inside. There is no admission fee being charged, and anyone who needs more details can contact the planners at zoe.southlynn@champaignparks.org.

At any vehicle-related event or other special community occasion, banner printing services can be obtained from area Print shops to add to the sense of festivity, and provide directions and information to event attendees.

This chance for Champaign kids to explore some large vehicles will be on offer on Friday, May 19. It will run from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. With it being an outdoor event, it may have to be cancelled if the weather is not suitable.
