Home2 Suites, an all-suite hotel under the Hilton marquee, has opened in Champaign.
The new facility is located on Neil Street, and opened Tuesday, February 2. It is the first of this type of Hilton in Illinois, but the 78th Home2 Suites now in operation.
Molly Mooney, the general manager of the new hotel, says she and her staff are “pretty excited to be the first one in Illinois”. According to Mooney, the hotel has already sold out for several upcoming events.
Home2 Suites has 104 suites, of which 19 are handicapped-accessible. There is a microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, flat-screen 42-inch TV, full-size sleeper sofa, and a recycling bin in each unit, and all the countertops are made of recyclable materials.
Mooney says that although the hotel caters for people who need to make extended stays, it is also suitable for traveling families. She notes there are a number of outlets in every room, so people can plug in their cellphones, computers, and other electronic devices.
The hotel provides complimentary breakfasts in The Oasis, a space in the lobby. There is also a meeting room, a heated saltwater indoor pool, and a fitness facility open 24 hours a day.
