The One Winter Night event is set to return to Champaign for its 10th year this February.
C-U at Home is the host of this event. The organization’s mission is to help the homeless population in the city.
This annual occasion serves as a fundraiser and a way for others to better understand what it is like to live without the security of a home. Participants will spend the night of the event outdoors in a cardboard refrigerator box to experience, just for 12 hours, what the homeless go through every day.
Those who wish to take part in the Champaign event can register online with C-U at Home. Each participant will be assigned a personal fundraising page to send to people they know, such as family, friends, employers, and co-workers in an effort to raise $1,000 or more. Additional items C-U at Home will distribute to each attendee include a miniature display box, an event handbook, a yard sign, and a facemask specifically designed for the event. When organizing similar events, the hosts will often visit Print shops to invest in physical Copies of essential information for each participant.
The 2021 One Winter Night event is scheduled to occur from 6:00 pm on Friday, February 5 to 6:00 am on Saturday, February 6 by The Venue CU.
