Champaign golf outing to help smash stigma

A day that will take a swing at the stigma surrounding mental illness has been added to the agenda for the Champaign area, and registration for it can be made now.

This mid-September outing will follow a four-person scramble format, and the Atkins Golf Club at the University of Illinois will be offering the tournament a warm welcome. It will begin with a morning shotgun start, and the registration fee is $125 per player or $500 for a foursome.

The funds raised during the upcoming activity will be passed along directly to the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) to help fund its advocacy and awareness programming. Spaces in the roster are expected to fill quickly, but anyone who misses out can still add their name to the wait list.

As many people enjoy a game of golf, this sort of fundraiser tends to attract a healthy turnout. Sponsoring one of these functions offers a way for a business to show its community it cares, and sponsorship packages and other materials will be available at a local brochure printing company.

The Mulligans for Mental Health Golf Outing will be hosted by NAMI on Monday, September 12. Its scheduled start time is 9:00 am. Details about playing in, or sponsoring, the day can be obtained by visiting its website.
