Champaign foodies preparing to celebrate

Even though Champaign may be deep in winter, its community of food services establishments will be welcoming diners for a week of red hot fun.

This winter, the city’s restaurants, cafes, food trucks, and other eateries will be showcasing their individual Menus as part of the larger Champaign County Restaurant Week event. It will be taking place over nine days at the end of January and early February, and it will provide an opportunity for everyone to check out its award-winning culinary scene.

The group of participating establishments is somewhat eclectic, and everything from typical American diner-style fare to Vietnamese, Mexican, French, fine dining, and many other options will be on the list. The public can choose from both dine in and take away meals. Reservations may be helpful, and those who choose to share photos or details about the experience on the activity’s social media page will qualify to win a gift card prize. Generous tipping is suggested by the organizers.

Cities that host a Restaurant Week or other themed activity will be able to order guides from area brochure printing suppliers. These can be distributed to the public to help whet their appetite to be included in the festivities.

Champaign will be running this culinary celebration from Friday, January 27 to Friday, February 4. Its website offers a list of participating eateries, as well as more details for both the general public and any business that would like to get involved.
