An event intended to help encourage literacy in the Champaign-Urbana area is currently accepting donations, and everyone is encouraged to get involved with the activity.
Lincoln Square Mall will be the venue for the three hour long pop -up book sale. The activity has received support from the Urbana Park District as well as dozens of local businesses, and not for profit groups will be getting involved as well.
As well as the chance to browse through all of the Books, the function will offer story readings as well as hands-on fun. There will be costumed characters on hand to meet the kids, and a toddler area will be set up for the younger attendees. Local celebrities will be in attendance to meet the crowd, and the first 1,000 children to come through the door will receive a free book and bag to take home.
To help ensure the activity will be a success, the planners have reached out to the local business community as well as anyone who would like to sign up as a storyteller. Bookmarks, reading tally sheets and other Promotional Products for a literacy-themed activity can be ordered from Print shops.
Read Across America Champaign-Urbana Celebration will run from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm on March 8th. The organizers can be reached at kmdixon@urbanaparks.org.
