A special event in Hailey will give participants a chance to immerse themselves in Old Hollywood glamor as they try to solve a crime.
The Escapuary is hosting “Murder Under the Marquee: A 1938 Red Carpet Murder Mystery.” The game takes participants back to 1938 when the Liberty Theater is having its grand opening, which coincides with the premiere of “The Winter Guest,” a highly anticipated film. The guests include local dignitaries, reporters, studio executives, and film stars, but before the evening is over, someone will die.
The evening’s admission includes the “Murder Under the Marquee” experience, individual character assignments, surprises and clues throughout the night, hors d’oeuvres, and a chance to solve the mystery.
People attending the event should arrive on time because characters and information about them will be distributed before the mystery begins. Attendees are encouraged to mingle with others, find clues, uncover secrets, ask questions, and try to discern who committed the crime.
The event is interactive, and attendees should be prepared to mingle, talk to others, and become part of the story. However, no one is expected to act, perform onstage, or memorize lines, or participate more than they are comfortable.
People are also encouraged to dress in the style of the glamorous 1930s, but it’s not necessary. The mystery is scheduled for October 30, and the Liberty Theater is at 110 North Main Street in Hailey. When they plan events like this, organizers can promote them with advertisements made using poster printing.
