An upcoming concert will celebrate the music of a beloved bluegrass musician.
Ralph Edmund Stanley, who was born in 1927, was a bluegrass musician recognized for his banjo playing and distinctive singing voice. He started his career in 1946, first playing with his brother Carter as one of the Stanley Brothers, and then fronted the Clinch Mountain Boys. He was one of the earliest bluegrass musicians widely recognized as such, leading him to be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.
This pioneering artist will be honored by his grandson, Nathan Stanley, who is bringing is “Personal Tribute to Dr. Ralph Stanley” to Hailey’s Liberty Theater. In the tradition of his family, Nathan will use his vocal and storytelling abilities, as well as his personal memories of his grandfather, to give audiences an evening of deep emotion and authentic bluegrass.
Nathan Stanley has won a Dove Award, an ICM Award, and was nominated for a Grammy, and has made it his mission to preserve and share bluegrass music. His show is both a tribute to his grandfather’s career, and to his family’s traditions and legacy.
Nathan Stanley and his band The Constant Sorrow, who are named for a bluegrass song, will appear at the Liberty Theater on Wednesday, November 18. Using poster printing allows organizers of events like this to advertise them effectively.
