Weekend brings variety of events to Coeur dAlene

A weekend packed with races is coming to Coeur d'Alene.

The CDA (Coeur d’Alene) Marathon has several options for runners. The choices are a Full Marathon, Half Marathon, a 10K, 5K, a Kids Fun Run, and a virtual run option.

There is also an early start option for the Marathon, designed for those runners who cannot complete the 26.2-mile course in six hours or less. It is not available to those who are able to walk or run fast enough to finish in six hours. Anyone requesting an early start must stay even with or behind those who intend to complete the race in six hours, or they will be disqualified.

The course takes participants along the streets and scenic lakeside paths of the city, and is fairly fast and flat. Organizers of events such as this can use banner printing to create course markers to help participants avoid confusion.

The CDA Marathon weekend is May 23 and 24 and is Boston Marathon Certified. Runners can pick up their packets at McEuen Park both on race day and the day before. The Kids Fun Run, which starts at 10.00 am, is the only race on the 23rd. The start times on the 24th are 5.30 am for the Marathon Early Start and 6.30 am for the Marathon. The Half-Marathon starts at 7.00 am, the 10K at 8.00 am, and the 5K at 9.00 am.
