Huge celebration planned in Coeur dAlene

Coeur d’Alene is planning a birthday party and inviting everyone.

The city’s 4th of July celebration draws as many as 75,000 visitors each year, which makes it one of the biggest Independence Day observations in the Pacific Northwest.

The location for the celebration is Independence Point, 105 Northwest Boulevard, though officials have suggested other locations where people can go to see the fireworks. The day begins with the American Heroes Parade, which will move down Sherman Avenue to Government Way, starting at 15th Street.

Craft and food vendors and musicians will gather at City Park on the lakefront, where activities suitable for families will be held continuously from 11.00 am until dusk.

The highlight—literally—of the day will be the fireworks show. A barge floating on Lake Coeur d’Alene will be the platform for firing them, a display that will be approximately an hour long, with shells ranging from 12-inch down to 2-inch, and a finale that the local press calls one of the area’s strongest. Officials say the show will be visible from numerous locations, with spots on the lakefront nearest the barge offering the clearest view.

The activities are planned for Independence Day itself, July 4, and run from 10.00 am, when the parade kicks off, until dusk. The official location is Independence Point, 105 Northwest Boulevard. The fireworks are scheduled to start between 9.30 pm and 9.45 pm. Celebrations like this can be enhanced when organizers use banner printing to create colorful decorations.
