Coeur d'Alene welcomes first-responder conference

Whether they are police officers, firefighters, or emergency medical technicians, first responders are always there for the public. In February, Coeur d’Alene will welcome a conference to support the mental and emotional health of those that support the public.

1st Responder Conferences will conduct a two-day event centered on supporting first responders and their families. The conference aims to address various issues surrounding the unique mental and emotional health challenges of these public servants and will include opportunities for them to interact with leaders in the mental health field. Attendees can expect to engage in interactive workshops and explore different ways to build emotional resilience and mental health for themselves and those they love.

1st Responder Conferences was started by Shawn Thomas, a retired deputy from the King County Sheriff’s Office in Seattle, WA. Part of her working career was spent as a 16-year member of the peer support team, paving the way for her current role as CEO of 1st Responder Conferences. Brochure printing and other services from Print shops are useful at industry conferences.

The organization states their mission on its website:

“We create spaces where responders, clinicians, and community partners can connect, learn, and walk away with strategies that strengthen resilience, improve wellness, and support long-term well-being.”

The First Responder Mental Health & Wellness Conference will occur February 2-3, 2026, at the Coeur d’Alene Resort. The location venue is 115 South 2nd Street. Registration prices are available on the 1st Responder Conferences website, and sponsorship opportunities are available as well.
