An upcoming event in Coeur d’Alene will help improve the lives of people in the community.
The Literacy Project of North Idaho is back for the 5th Annual Walk, Run, Read! event. The Literacy Project is a non-profit organization that helps adults improve their English skills and their literacy. All the proceeds from the race go directly to these programs.
There are two races available, a 5K run/walk, and a Kids Dash for those 12 years of age and under. The fee for the 5K is $30, and the race is scheduled from 8.00 am until 11.00 am. The Kids Dash is $10, lasting from 9.00 am until 11.00 am. A virtual run is also available for $30.
All children six and younger may participate for free. Prizes will be given to the 5K’s top three finishers, and all participants in the Kids Dash will be given medals.
The course for the 5K is an out-and-back route over the Idaho Centennial Trail heading toward Post Falls. The turnaround is near the Highway 95 bridge, and water is available on the course. The Kids Dash route is entirely within the park, on a loop course that is safe and fun for young runners.
The day also offers activities and games for everyone, and an annual book sale. Race day is September 19, and the location is 415 West Fort Grounds Drive. Events like this benefit when organizers work with banner printing to create course markers.
