Officials in Newnan are now accepting applications from individuals interested in taking a seat on a new committee dedicated to dealing with issues related to equality, justice and race.
The J.W Fanning Institute for Leadership Development will be helping the city to design and implement an action plan expected to last for three years. Residents, property owners, and businesspeople will be included in the planning stages. They hope that they will have a balanced representation of Newnan’s diverse cultural and economic population.
The early stages will involve several opportunities to start focus groups, send out surveys, and conduct interviews. The city’s officials are expecting to have up to 15 people on the committee. A Planning Committee will be formally established to guide the plan’s development. People tend to use business card printing when starting at a new position.
The Planning Committee’s main task is proving consistent and actionable advice. It will also be the voice of the consistency or neighborhood. The J.W Fanning Institute will host the planning committee’s meetings at the University of Georgia.
The Planning committee members’ other responsibilities include:
- Regularly attending the 10 meetings scheduled between November 2020 and May 2021
- Representing their home constituencies
- Serving as a conduit for two-way communication between the Planning Committee and their constituencies
- Supporting the effective implementation of the final action plan
