The intersection of Corinth Road and Greenville Street in Newnan is set to get a new lighting installation.
Details of the project, which was greenlit by the Newnan City Council, show that the city will take care of the energy costs associated with the roundabout, as well as maintenance. The city has requested The Georgia Department of Transportation to help with the design for the intersection. Graphic design is often used in the early stages of projects.
Contractors will be able to put in bids for the projects by the end of 2022. The city expects that construction will take about 16 months to complete. The city also gave approval to Integrated Science and Engineering to come up with designs for how the sidewalks on Sprayberry Road and Jackson Street will be done.
The city also plans to construct sidewalks on Clark Street, Millard Farmer Industrial Boulevard, and Casey Road. The feasibility studies have already been carried out and the city is waiting for feedback from design professionals who would like to take on the contract. City documents show that Integrated Science and Engineering is the firm most likely to be selected for the work.
The city is expecting to get federal funding to help with the work on Jackson Street. Being a state route, any developments planned for Jackson Street will have to follow the development plans outlined by GDOT.
