Country music veteran returns to Newnan

Alan Jackson, a singer from Newnan who made a name for himself singing country tunes, is making a return to perform in his home state.

Most of Jackson’s music is described as being neo-traditional country. He writes his own songs and has recorded 16 music albums, three greatest hits albums, a couple of gospel albums, and two Christmas albums. Graphic design for the album covers usually features names of the album’s most popular songs.

Although he listened to gospel music as a youth, he was not interested in making his own music until a friend from school introduced him to the works of John Anderson and Gene Watson. He started a band soon after graduating high school, and about a decade later, he moved his family from Newnan to Nashville in order to pursue music full-time.

Jackson has already been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame after selling more than 74 million albums worldwide. He’ll be playing a number of tracks from his long list of hits such as "Chattahoochee," “Gone County,” and “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.” A special guest who is yet to be announced will also be on stage at Jackson’s concert, along with a Nashville honky-tonk player who Jackson describes as a rising star.

Diehard fans can take advantage of the VIP packages which include access to a pre-show party, tours backstage, and the chance to watch the show from a special spot next to the soundboard. The show is on February 14 at the State Farm Arena.
