Presented by the Atlanta Printmakers Studio (APS), this month’s Atlanta Print Biennial will showcase work by artists from around the world who use hand-pulled print methods to create their art.
Hand-pulled prints include art that has a limited reproduction. Classified as original works and are not considered Copies, the prints are unique and are unlike those reproduced through automated means.
Pieces are created through a manual printmaking transfer process. There are four types of transfers that artists frequently use – etching, silkscreen printing, wood and lino cut block printing, and lithography.
Master printer Todd Anderson will be the juror for the Atlanta Print Biennial. Anderson teaches at Clemson University and has works displayed in many notable museums and galleries, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The APS has a mandate to increase the awareness of printmaking while providing support for artists of all ages. The organization makes rental spaces available to artists, offers printmaking workshops and classes, oversees student scholarships, and hosts multiple exhibitions in addition to this one.
Artists whose work is featured in exhibits such as this often provide their Business Cards to collectors and other gallery visitors.
The Atlanta Print Biennial opens Friday, June 13 and runs until Friday, July 11 at Kai Lin Art, which is a gallery in the Westside District of Atlanta.
