Atlanta spring festival celebrates Africa

More than 30 live performers and 20 DJs will bring the music and culture of Africa to Atlanta next month.

The African Experience Festival or AfroXfest will be a vibrant two-day event that will celebrate and embrace African culture and diversity. Organizers of special events such as this often use banner printing to draw attention to the festival activities.

The sounds of Afrobeats, Amapiano, and other traditional beats will be presented by musicians and DJs, joined by live drummers and dancers representing at least eight different African nations, including Kenya, Ghana, and Ethiopia.

The diverse festival will offer more than entertainment as it will also showcase traditional artisan crafts, as well as customary African and Caribbean cuisine.

Artists and craft makers will display unique creations, including handmade clothing and other goods. Visitors can also experience food from vendors who will offer the tastes and flavors of Africa.

Other services will also be provided at the festival, including a small business showcase, in addition to agencies providing information on African travel and tourism. Attendance is expected to top 10,000 people as the event coincides with African nation DR Congo taking on Uzbekistan in the FIFA World Cup at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

AfroXfest will be held on June 27 and 28 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm at Candler Park, 1500 McLendon Ave NE in Atlanta. The festival is free to attend. Further information is available online.
