A Lucky’s Market will be opening in East Orlando later this month.
The store will be 35,000 square feet in size and will concentrate
on fresh and affordable meat, deli, fresh foods, and produce, primarily organic in nature. Such staple items as cereal, soda, and potato chips will also be sold.
According to managing editor at trade publication Progressive Grocer, Bridget Goldschmidt, Lucky’s is part of a trend of stores filling those areas that supermarkets have traditionally ignored, such as hormone-free and organic food, and food for special diets. Lucky’s might benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to produce their weekly flyer and advertisements.
This will be the 18th store for the chain, based in Boulder, Colorado, across the country but it is currently targeting the market in Florida. Currently it has locations in Naples, Coral Springs, and Gainesville, and is planning to open more stores in Neptune Beach, Tallahassee, Plantation, and Melbourne.
Bob Knause, who now runs the Gainesville store, will be the manager of the Orlando store.
The founder of Lucky’s, Bo Sharon, has commented that there has been a warm welcome for all of its stores in Florida so far and the company is very excited about expanding into Orlando.
The store is scheduled to open on June 22 and will have a "bacon-cutting ceremony” that day starting at 8:00 a.m.
