An annual event that aims to connect Orlando residents to their municipal government will go ahead with a new digital format.
The Orlando Neighborhood and Community Summit typically brings together hundreds of people, ranging from ordinary residents to city officials and government leaders. This year’s summit, the 16th yearly edition, will take place through digital live streams and be hosted by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. The one-day event will open with the presentation of awards honoring those who build community and inclusion, then a question-and-answer session with the mayor, followed by three periods which will each hold various sessions aiming to inform residents of municipal services, and get feedback from the community.
Planned sessions include “Public Participation in Local Government Decision Making,” “Leveling the Playing Field: How to Achieve Equity and Inclusion Today,” and “Innovative Partnerships for Neighborhood Organizations.” There will also be a virtual exhibitor area allowing attendees to interact directly with service providers. Exhibits like this typically use tools like brochure printing and Business Cards, whether physical or digital, to help spread awareness. Even the summit tradition of the gift bag will be maintained, through a bag that will be mailed out shortly after the event.
The 2021 edition of the Neighborhood and Community Summit will take place on the morning and afternoon of March 6, streaming online.
