Miramar to wrap up Bid Fit course

The city of Miramar will be concluding an online seminar series meant to help local businesses bid for government contracts with a live stream this December.

The course, called “Bid Fit”, deals with topics ranging from reviewing a project’s source to making use of insurance and bonding services. The sessions are hosted by Dr. Karen E. Hollis Esq., a certified diversity executive, and include a panel of experts with specialized knowledge. The educational program is part of Miramar’s goal of incorporating more local businesses and entrepreneurs into upcoming surtax projects. With the first three seminars taking place earlier in the year, the December event will look to provide some final guidance and a last chance for newcomers to participate.

The “Bid Fit” seminar is part of the broader, and similarly named, “Biz Fit” program ran by the city of Miramar and its Business, Inclusion and Diversity team, as well as the Miramar-Pembroke Pines Regional Chamber of Commerce. The program has provided free in-person seminars and workshops, along with digital editions. Starting a business requires picking up a number of skills, from accounting to business card printing, and municipalities often launch programs to help local businesses succeed and make entrepreneurship more accessible.

The final “Bid Fit” seminar will take place on the afternoon of December 3, and will be hosted through the WebEx online platform.
