The Jamaican Women of Florida (JWOF) will hold a community wellness event at the Miramar Youth Enrichment Center in August.
The JWOF Health & Wellness Fair is an event that helps people get connected with community resources and provides important free services to attendees. Eventgoers can get complimentary health screenings for their blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), and cholesterol levels. There will also be information on women’s health topics like OBGYN care and menopause. People will even get to visit booths to learn about local mental health resources, insurance options, and practical wellness strategies.
The JWOF is an organization with the mission of empowering Jamaican girls and women with educational programs and community engagement opportunities. The group offers scholarships to help Jamaican women pursue higher education. Many cultural events have been organized by the JWOF, including the Jamaican Jerk Festival and the Annual Anancy Festival. The organization also holds a conference with informative workshops and forums.
The health expo will be on Saturday, August 29th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. There is no cost for people to visit the event and utilize the provided resources. Guests will also get to enter raffles at the enrichment center. People can support the JWOF by donating when registering for the fair. Groups like this can utilize banner printing services to help promote their wellness events to more consumers.
