Next month will see top athletes from around the world racing in parallel, with Miramar hosting one of the runs.
The Inspiration Games will feature 30 athletes competing in their home stadiums. Each event will be a three-way battle with athletes on teams representing Europe and the rest of the world. Miramar will be one of seven cities used. The first event announced was a 150-metre event featuring Shaunae Miller-Uibo, representing the Bahamas racing in Miramar against the USA’s Allyson Felix in Walnut, California and Mujinga Kambundi in Zurich, Switzerland. All three women have won Olympic medals on the track.
Other events announced include the 100-yard dash, 300 metres hurdles, pole vault and triple jump. The Inspiration Games are held in lieu of the scheduled Zurich meet of the IAAF Diamond League, the top annual athletics circuit. Events like these, often advertised through tools like poster printing and banner printing, are held around the world and can feature international stars. The event will feature a unique format and broadcast with three locations being broadcast simultaneously. It may feature time delays so that the runs and track events will be synchronized for the viewer. Similar distance athletics events have already taken place, like last month’s Impossible Games.
The Inspiration Games will take place on July 9 and be streamed through the IAAF’s broadcast partners.
