Miramar runners support bully prevention

Drawing awareness to the issue of bullying and helping all involved is the goal of the upcoming Saturday Morning 5K.

The race organizer, Life Equity Fitness, is an organization that encourages people to use fitness to support causes that matter to them. The participants in this race can contribute to the efforts of creating a bully-free community. The event will help to develop resources in the area for those that have experienced bullying.

The organizers want to do more than help the victims of the problem, so a part of the funds earned from the event will also go to mental health aid and counseling for those with known bullying tendencies. This event is Helping Hands Race Series eligible, which means the proceeds earned will remain in the Miramar and Pembroke Pines community.

All participants receive a T-shirt, medal, and entry to a drawing for a race-themed basket valued at $250. Community organizations, teams, and individuals are all invited to join the race. Spectators can create some colorful designs for their banner printing and cheer on all the runners. Runners of all ages can take part in the event.

The race will take place this Saturday, June 23 at the C.B. Smith Park found at 900 North Flamingo Road in Pembroke Pines. The race will begin at 7:00 am. Registration is free for children age five and under, $15 per person for ages 6 – 12, and $30 per person for all others. Visit the Eventbrite website to register.
