Donation for pets made to local fire department

The Miramar fire department has received a donation of five specially designed oxygen masks made for pets that are victims of smoke inhalation during a fire. The masks come in a variety of sizes to fit most household pets.

Fireman run across all types of animals when they enter a burning building so the masks will help resuscitate animals quicker because they are designed to fit better than human masks. Of the many animals the department has had to rescue, firefighters have run across not only dogs and cats, but snakes, bearded dragons, hedgehogs, and iguanas.

The masks were donated by Invisible Fence, who started the program in 2006. Companies who manufacture merchandise, such as these pet masks, can purchase Promotional Products to let others know the variety of items they carry.

With this recent donation, all of Miramar’s fleet of rescue vehicles will now be equipped with the pet masks. The masks have universal fittings so they will connect easily to any oxygen tanks. The department is pleased to no longer have to compromise when rescuing pets because now they have the right equipment to do the job.

Each year, thousands of pets succumb to smoke inhalation. Invisible Fence is hoping when they donate these products that they will never have to be used, but believe having the departments equipped will save the lives of many pets.
