Downtown Dunedin steps back in time for Christmas
A festive parade and old-fashioned celebrations will highlight the holidays in Dunedin.
Presented by the City of Dunedin Parks and Recreation, all activities will be family-friendly and free to attend. Community departments that organize events such as this often use banner printing to draw attention to the location.
The annual afternoon parade will include decorated floats, marching bands and other performers on a route along Douglas Avenue from Beltrees Street to Skinner Boulevard. The parade will mark the arrival of Santa to Dunedin’s downtown.
Festivities will continue following the parade with activities in Pioneer Park and along Main Street and Broadway, where created snow flurries and horse-drawn carriage rides will add to the old-fashioned holiday ambiance.
Ice skating, entertainment, live music, kids’ crafts, games and face painting will be among the attractions. Skates will be provided as well as handcarts for beginners who want to try out the ice rink. Participants in any of the activities are encouraged to make a monetary donation, with all proceeds going to the Dunedin for Youth Scholarship Fund.
The Dunedin holiday parade will take place on Saturday, December 13 at 3:30 pm with other activities throughout the evening until 9:00 pm. The event will be easily accessible as the city is providing a free Jolly Trolly shuttle service from area parking lots from 2:30 to 9:30 pm.
