University of Miami’s UFuerza Latino Dance Team will be presenting its yearly show, with the Azucar, Fuego and Luxe Gala coming next week.
The name translates as “sugar, fire and light”. Along with dinner, this will be an evening of Latin American traditional dancing like merengue, bachata, and salsa performed by the Latino Dance Team. During the evening, there will be a high-energy Hora Loca (crazy hour) in which a Brazilian dancer accompanied by a drummer will perform. At the end of the evening there will be a surprise giveaway.
The event will be free but online reservations are advised to be sure of not missing out. Semi-formal or cocktail attire is required. Donations will be accepted for The First Star Academy at the University of Miami. This organization provides opportunities, support, and tools for high school youth in foster care to become self-sufficient, either through higher education or an alternative vocation.
Sometimes, a supporter interested in either the dancing or the charity will spread the word by getting a little flyer printing done. These Flyers can be found tacked up around their neighborhoods, in dance studios, and in workplaces.
The performance has been scheduled for Thursday, April 6 beginning at 7:00 pm and ending around 11:00 pm at the University of Miami’s Shalala Ballroom, 1330 Miller Drive here in Coral Gables.
