Coral Gables will be celebrating Gables Cycle Day in mid-April with its annual Bike and BBQ.
Organized by Bike Walk Coral Gables and the City of Coral Gables, the bike ride will be an 11-mile ride beginning at the Youth Center at the Coral Gables War Memorial at 405 University Drive and ending at Matheson Hammock Park, 9610 Old Cutler Road. Activities after the ride will include a BBQ-style picnic, lawn games, live music, and refreshments at the park's historic pavilion.
Riders may leave the festivities on their own or opt to take a police-escorted group ride back to the Youth Center.
The ride organizers recommend that riders be at least 10 years old and all riders must be able to maintain a 10-mph minimum riding speed.
Highly recommended pre-registration is $10 and may be done at the city's website or the event page of the Dade Heritage Trust. Those who register early will receive goodie Bags.
Members of No Boundaries Sport and Dade Heritage Trust will be inspecting bikes, and all riders must wear helmets.
Groups that ride together often have matching colorful T-Shirts printed with a logo or graphic design at local Print shops.
Check-in will start at 9:30 am at the Youth Center, and the ride will begin at 10:00 am and the after party will end around 1:00 on April 16th.
