Final centennial celebrations in Coral Gables

The last of numerous special events will end next month as part of Coral Gables’ year-long centennial celebrations.

Coral Gables was incorporated in April 1925. The city has been marking the 100-year anniversary with a variety of community activities since last spring, including creation of a time capsule, historic walks, talks, markets and exhibits. Residents and visitors still have time to take in two special displays at the Coral Gables Museum.

Dreaming Coral Gables is an exhibition about the city’s founder George Merrick, whose historic home remains a prominent local landmark. While Merrick is well remembered for his positive outlook and self-confidence, the museum display looks at another darker side of the man, based on a newly discovered letter he wrote to his father.

The museum’s Coral Gables Centennial Exhibit will also soon come to an end. The broad-ranging display looks at what is known as the City Beautiful from its colorful history to its growth in becoming an energetic multicultural community.

With the exhibits and other activities, the museum has played a large role in the centennial celebrations. Facilities that create these types of community events and experiences often turn to local Print shops for their written materials.

The special centennial exhibits at the Coral Gables Museum can be viewed Tuesdays to Saturdays through until April 21, 2026.
