Student musicians showcased in Coral Gables

A series of outdoor student concerts will be held in downtown Coral Gables beginning in the new year. Music at McBride Plaza will feature twice monthly free performances.

Students attending the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music will bring their musical talents to the audience made up of downtown business people, residents and visitors.

In 2025, The Frost School of Music celebrated 100 years of providing unique music education. The acclaimed school focuses on having its students compose, create and perform together in small ensemble classrooms rather than in large theory and lecture halls.

Musicians go through a demanding audition process conducted by the school faculty who choose the top musicians to perform in groups at the public concerts. A range of musical genres will be included.

The concert series is presented by the Arthur B. McBride Family Foundation, the Dorsal Family Foundation and the City of Coral Gables. Organizers of public presentations such as this often use poster printing to promote their events.

The first in the series of Music at McBride Plaza concerts will feature jazz music and vocals by the Leah Rutherford Quartet. It will take place January 15, 2026 from 5:30 to 7:30 at the plaza, 150 Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. The series will continue every second Thursday through until March 26, 2026. A schedule of all performances is available on the city website.
