Resorcity, a Coral Gables-based online service designed to foster closer ties between government services, businesses, and individuals, has officially launched with a pilot program aimed at its home base.
The platform grew out of CityGrader, an app that allowed residents to review local government services and public agencies. Resorcity aims to build on this by adding civic resources and information on municipal services, in addition to support for small businesses. Businesses can interact directly with customers through Resorcity, while users can accumulate points by shopping at participating stores, attending local governance meeting, participating in surveys, and otherwise contributing to their community. Points unlock special offers and sales at participating local stores, further encouraging local engagement.
Over 30 businesses have signed up for the pilot program in Coral Gables. Many successful services like Resorcity join methods like flyer printing and radio advertisements as a way for local businesses to advertise sales and new products.
The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and Business Improvement District are among those who have adopted Resorcity and are hoping it can provide a spark to the local economy, and help maintain relationships between people and institutions in these times of social distancing. A successful pilot program could see the app rolled out in other cities across the country.
The Resorcity app has officially launched and is available for iOS and Android platforms.
