Museum announces new Education Director

The Coral Gables Museum has announced the promotion of Luis Valenzuela to Director of the Museum’s Education Department. Thanks to his creativity and ability to connect with kids, Valenzuela’s talents will contribute greatly to the museums summer camp programs.

The museum has exhibits and programs that focus on the environment of the city’s 1920’s planned community. Visitors to the museum will be able to enjoy photographs displayed in the lobby of the old Police and Fire Stations and can also tour historic buildings and see the courtroom, jail cells and apparatus bay room. Audio tours are also available on the museum’s website.

With a variety of camps, programs and workshops available, museums like these tend to use Print services to obtain material to educate and inform the community. The summer camp, known as City Trekker Summer Camp, is one of the many ways the museum provides services to its community. With Valenzuela’s assistance, the summer programs will run from June 7th through August 16th. Children attending will learn about their city through hands-on course and outdoor activities.

The camps will be held in five different two-week sessions with different themes; Exploring the Arts, Exploring How Things Are Made, Exploring Our City, Exploring the Fauna & Flora and Exploring Natural Resources.

The Coral Gables Museum is located at 285 Aragon Avenue. The Museum is open seven days a week with varying hours and is closed on most holidays.
