The 25th anniversary of Carnival on the Mile is approaching, as it returns to Coral Gables this weekend.
Over 100 fine artists will be showcasing and selling their handcrafted original works in many media and styles, and vying for first, second and third place awards in Fine Arts Village categories.
Three stages will offer 33 performances beginning at noon on both days. Headliners for the Ponce De Leon Stage will be Los Hacheros on Saturday night and Dr. Ed Calle and the Venezuelans All Stars on Sunday. The Le Jeune Stage will feature Nil Lara on Saturday and Monophonics on Sunday evening. The Douglas Stage will have Mama Fuma on Saturday and Gafieira Rio Miami on Sunday.
Food and non-food vendors will be open for business during festival hours beginning at 10:00 am on both days, and ending at 10:00 pm on Saturday and 7:00 pm on Sunday. Attendees are advised to bring their own water bottles and tote Bags, as no straws, Styrofoam, or plastic Bags are allowed according to state law.
A special kids' area has been set aside with music, fun activities, and food.
This year's poster winner is Danny Doya. Pictures of his beautiful Carribbean girl illustration can be circulated with the help of poster printing companies at events like this.
Carnival on the Mile will take place this Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3 in downtown Coral Gables. Admission will be free.
