This weekend, the Miami Paddle Challenge will be taking place at Matheson Hammock Park in Coral Gables, for the 15th year running.
Participators can take part in a competitive race or a more sedate ‘Tour for a Cure’. The event was started by William Muinos, a pediatric gastroenterologist at Miami Children’s Hospital. After working with patients with cystic fibrosis, he decided to do something to help and launched a kayak race. It is now the Miami Paddle Challenge and involves the use of kayaks, rowboats, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, and dragonboats.
During the first event, Muinos took part on his own to raise money for cystic fibrosis research. The event now has more than 200 people taking part in the event, all working hard to raise awareness and money for research. During the last 14 years, more than $400,000 has been raised, which has contributed to the development of Kalydeco - a new medication to make the mucus of a sufferer much thinner.
The next event will this Saturday, September 28 and will offer participants a race of three, six, or 12 miles. Those who do not want to compete can paddle in the waters of Biscayne Bay, in a leisurely manner.
The event will be promoted using a variety of media, including the printing services of a local Print company. Flyers and Posters will be used to promote the fund raiser in locations throughout Florida. On the day of the event, participants will be provided with breakfast and lunch.Get a Free Quote for Flyers Get a Free Quote for Posters Get a Free Quote for Print
